Paintball Vs. Airsoft

There are many different methods of playing Airsoft and paintball and both are very much alike. Even though there are some similarities between the two, the games are not played the same way. There are many people who become confused because of all of this.
The game of Airsoft was developed within Japan back in the 1970’s as an alternative for hobbyists of guns. At this time, the ownership of guns was illegal in Japan. Gun replicas were thus introduced and produced with the military styles of guns. Airsoft is extremely popular in the Asia region.
Paintball was invented within the United States of America in the 1980’s as a hide and seek type game. Utility company paint guns were used due to their aesthetic characteristics. Since then, paintball has gained much popularity throughout the United States and is now considered family friendly.
When playing Airsoft, there isn’t an honor system implemented where the players rely on each other in being honest and admit when they have been shot. This is because the plastic pellets do not contain paint in them as a means to mark if they have been shot. In paintball, an honor system is not necessary because the paint marks are easily visible on a player’s clothes if he has been shot.
When comparing Airsoft and paintball kinetic energy, there is hardly any kinetic energy visible in Airsoft wars. Here is how they compare. Each Airsoft projectile weights in at about .2 grams with paintball projectiles weighing in at 2.84 grams. If both of these are traveling at about 300 feet each second, the Airsoft projectile will have a transfer rate of .9 joules compared to paintball projecting 11.8 joules. As you can tell, there is a major difference which produces different types of collisions to take place.

Airsoft guns have more of a range than paintball guns do. As a matter of fact, the majority of Airsoft guns are able to shoot from to 250fps up to 600 fps. If you implement a hop up type unit onto your gun, your gun will have a definite backspin, giving it a slight upward arc. Also, Airsoft pellets travel much farther than paintball pellets do.
