Mothers day celebrate with paintball game

TULSA, Oklahoma - For Mother's Day, most kids usually cook for their mom or buy them flowers. This year, a mom and son decided to mix things up and do something outside the box. A mother shoots her son in the back, but it's all fun and games. "This was something that we jokingly were talking about and said it would be a lot of fun, so we decided to go ahead and do it," Pam Ward said. Every year, Ward travels from the panhandle to Tulsa to visit her son, Robert, for one week. This year it happened to fall on Mother's Day Weekend. What better way to celebrate than to go paintballing together? "It's pretty cool," Robert Ward said. "Not too many people I know, especially my age, would have their mom be able to go paintballing with them, so it's pretty special." With her camo on and her gun ready to fire, this 63-year-old woman says age ain't nothin' but a number. "It's been a lot of fun," Pam Ward said. "It's nice to have people of different ages be on your team. It's really a lot of fun." And to top it off, she's getting to spend some quality time with her 30-year-old son. "It's nice to have that relationship with your adult child, and we have a lot of fun and we do a lot of things as a family and this is included," Pam Ward said. When you look at the two side by side, who do you think will be put out of the game first? The duo plays three games together and every time, Robert is shot and taken out before his mom. "It's a little embarrassing," Robert Ward said. "I'll have to try to do better next time. [I'll] try to keep in at least half as long as she does this next time. I'm a bigger target, so maybe that's it." Pam Ward: "He said I could run behind him as a shield, and he's doing it every time." Reporter: "So he's protecting you?" Pam Ward: "Absolutely."
