The Philippines’ “Global Gutz” team won the championship in the Asia Cup 2011 paintball tournament, which was held at the Sukan Complex, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia over the weekend.
The three-day competition, which ran from January 14 to 16, was participated in by around 40 teams from the Asian region.
The Global Gutz Philippine paintball team is owned and managed by businessman Sonny Torres.
The team said that teamwork and coordination were the keys to its success. Team captain Mario Tuano said most of the squads they faced were highly competitive.
Aside from the trophy, the team will also bring home a P200,000 cash incentive from the Malaysian Paintball Academy (MAPACC), the Asia Cup 2011 organizer.
The Global Gutz Philippine paintball team is expected to return to Malaysia sometime in May to defend the title.
